Job Description

The Service & Team:

The Communication Support Team is a small friendly team working in schools and settings across Cornwall. We comprise Speech and Language Therapists, Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and Advisory Teachers.

We are part of the wider SEND Support Services and work closely with colleagues to provide training and support on a wide range of general SEND issues such as the Graduated Response and EHC Needs Assessments. We value and support a wide range of continued professional development both within and outside of the county.

The Role

The role holder will work as Specialist Speech and Language Therapist across school and settings, mainly in the West. They will focus on developing support in settings for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. This can include delivering whole setting accessible training, peer support, as well as identifying inclusive strategies and advising on how to implement these. You will also produce high quality written reports and take part in peer reviews for quality assurance purposes.

You will develop close working relationships with colleagues from the team, those in the NHS as well as other teams within the Local Authority such as Social Care.

You will be responsible for managing your own diary and working independently, with children and young people always at the heart of everything you do.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check.

Working Pattern

This role is for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However part-time hours will be considered.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

You will be a successful and experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for SEND and working within education. You will enjoy developing and delivering training as well as working in a holistic way to improve outcomes for our learners. You will work well as part of a team as well as independently. You will have excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
