We are looking for a highly motivated, results driven engineer to join our News Engineering team.

The London Stock Exchange Group is the exclusive provider of Reuters News to the financial community. Our News Platform aggregates content from Reuters, and thousands of other news providers, augmenting our content with a rich set of metadata and analytics to enable our customers in finding News most relevant to their needs. The News we deliver informs investors, moves markets, and enables companies to identify risks to their business. We have a distributed team of engineers collaborating across all fields to deliver excellence for our customers.

As a Software Engineer, the right candidate will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of solutions for News systems in Java using the A zure Cloud . They will be embedded in a cross-functional squad of engineers delivering changes using agile practices. This candidate will need to determine solutions for complex problems, implement changes in coordination with other engineers in the squad , and pitch in to help other software , dev ops, and quality engineers as the need arises to deliver projects.

Job Specification

  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code based on User Stories
  • Demonstrate a focus on quality, through unit testing, integration testing and code reviews, ensuring software meets requirements
  • Implement fully automated release pipelines and implement deployment processes as per standards defined by our dev ops team
  • Work as part of a team using agile methodologies, adhering to team/company standards
  • Provide 3rd level support, including troubleshooting on production systems, occasionally requiring the candidate to be on-call" outside of normal business hours


Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of object-oriented design and development in Java
  • 2+ years with at least 1 scripting language, Python preferred
  • Experience with continuous integration using related tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Terraform
  • Experience developing software for cloud environments , Azure preferred
  • Good communication , verbal and written , and experience in working with global teams
  • Bachelor/MS degree in C omputer S cience , Engineering, or related fields
