Job Summary
The Navy Safety Directorate Safety Promotion SO2 is responsible for engaging and influencing across the Navy, wider Defence and associated partners to promote safety improvement and education in both written and briefing formats.
They work collaboratively within the Safety Engagement team and provide a link to directorates, and SMEs in the generation of Learning from Experience, safety promotions and Learning from Experience publications, in order to promote learning and improvement across health, safety and environmental areas.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

A successful candidate must have the professional credibility and interpersonal skills to be able to build and sustain relations across all directorates in the organisation, whilst working in line with command and control direction as required.
They must create tailored Learning from Experience media and solutions which instil workforce confidence that materials produced are evidence based and accurate, whilst complying with HSEP legal statutes and Defence Policies. This role will bridge the gap between the Subject Matter Experts and the wider organisation. Clear and concise messaging of complex subjects needs to be developed for distribution across the Organisation.
The incumbent must hold the literary skills, emotional intelligence, and humility to ensure that emotive topics are covered sensitively and factually using reputable references.
This role must have communication skills and professional experience to independently seek and exploit valuable insight and information from across the Navy Safety Directorate, MOD, and SMEs in order to achieve their outputs.
Key messages must be transferable to the wider organisation in a way which supports the foundations of ‘Just Culture’.
The incumbent must work within their professional limitations seeking confirmation on vicarious liability where required in the execution of their role.
