Role responsibilities

The Senior Project Sponsor will engage with clients and implementation teams to enable successful delivery of complex enhancement schemes into operation on behalf of Transport for Wales (TfW).

• Sponsor the development and implementation of complex transport programmes by acting as the point of contact for the external client and the project delivery team, providing insight, advice and recommendations to ensure TfW is meeting client’s needs whilst minimising disruption to passengers and the local communities.

• Ownership of project and programme Business Cases by holding the project delivery team to account against the agreed proposals and safety obligations (including common safety method) to ensure that rail enhancement schemes meet the safe and effective operation of the rail services for Wales & Borders and that benefits are realised upon completion.

• Facilitate the use of Common Safety Method by overseeing the project delivery team’s adherence to these standards to ensure TfW is continuing to safely deliver projects to time, cost and quality.

• Maintain clarity of the financial position of complex transport schemes by undertaking client and funder engagements and working closely with the project delivery teams to identify potential changes in budget requirements to be able to time, cost and quality.

Who we’re looking for

• Previous experience in project management with an understanding of project lifecycles.
• Experience of effective stakeholder management with conflicting stakeholder approaches.
• Experience of leading and managing complex investment schemes.
• Experience of preparing and managing sizeable budgets.
• Experience of working across projects and identify interconnecting issues with other projects.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.

Bydd yr Uwch Noddwr Prosiectau yn ymgysylltu â chleientiaid a thimau gweithredu er mwyn rhoi cynlluniau gwella cymhleth ar waith yn llwyddiannus ar ran Trafnidiaeth Cymru (TrC).

• Noddi'r gwaith o ddatblygu rhaglenni trafnidiaeth cymhleth a’u rhoi ar waith drwy weithredu fel pwynt cyswllt i’r cleientiaid allanol a'r tîm cyflawni prosiectau, gan ddarparu dealltwriaeth, cyngor ac argymhellion i sicrhau bod TrC yn diwallu anghenion ei gleientiaid ac yn tarfu cyn lleied â phosibl ar deithwyr a chymunedau lleol.

• Bod yn gyfrifol am Achosion Busnes y rhaglenni a’r prosiectau, ac am ddal y tîm cyflawni prosiectau i gyfrif yn erbyn y cynigion a’r rhwymedigaethau diogelwch y cytunwyd arnynt (gan gynnwys y dull diogelwch cyffredin). Gwneir hyn er mwyn sicrhau bod cynlluniau gwella’r rheilffyrdd yn bodloni gweithrediad diogel ac effeithiol y gwasanaethau rheilffyrdd ar gyfer Cymru a’r Gororau, a bod buddion yn cael eu gwireddu ar ôl cwblhau'r gwaith.

• Hwyluso’r defnydd o’r Dull Diogelwch Cyffredin drwy oruchwylio cydymffurfiad y tîm cyflawni prosiectau â’r safonau hyn, er mwyn sicrhau bod TrC yn parhau i gyflawni prosiectau’n ddiogel, gan gadw at ofynion amser, costau a sicrhau ansawdd.

• Cynnal eglurder ynghylch sefyllfa ariannol cynlluniau trafnidiaeth cymhleth drwy ymgysylltu â chleientiaid ac arianwyr, yn ogystal â gweithio’n agos gyda thimau cyflawni prosiectau i nodi newidiadau posibl i amodau’r gyllideb er mwyn bodloni gofynion o ran amser, costau ac ansawdd.
