The Role

As a Senior Project Manager within GE Power Conversion & Storage you will be responsible for leading either one major project or a portfolio of projects, delivering critical systems for external customers in a safe, structured, efficient, and timely manner. Our projects are diverse, so you will lead multi-disciplinary project teams to design and implement highly customized solutions.

Building effective working relationships is an essential aspect of this role, and you will be the primary point of contact for your customers with a focus on achieving high levels of customer satisfaction. Equally important is how you provide leadership, support and guidance for your project team, working within a matrix organization structure. You will work closely with your lead engineer, the wider project team, and with internal and external suppliers & stakeholders to achieve effective collaboration.

You will be experienced in and make effective use of best practice project management techniques throughout the project lifecycle, driving and reporting progress against the baseline plan, managing change and risks, and controlling costs. You will be responsible for the project financial performance, supported by our finance team, and will be the focal point for our project review process to report progress and forecasts. You will embrace the GE lean transformation within the business and deploy this actively within the project management context.

We are looking for a committed and professional individual who will need to have:

  • Substantial experience of delivering integrated system engineering projects in a commercial contracting environment with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Degree level qualifications in an engineering or scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Project management training and certification.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain UK Security Clearance at least to ‘Basic’ level.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Ability to travel on an occasional/ short term basis when required, for example: to customer, supplier, or job site locations (UK & overseas).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software, and Microsoft Project.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Previous projects experience in an Industrial Power Systems domain (for example rotating machinery, variable speed drives, power storage and distribution, industrial control and automation)
  • Experience in the use of SAP
  • Experience of construction industry standard forms of contract (for example FIDIC, NEC)
