An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Manager to join the Finance department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
Take ownership of and manage the month end, year end and transactional accounting processes, as well as providing technical accounting support. This role will be the go-to person for technical accounting matters, preparing memos and updating accounting treatments where necessary, to comply with both Group IFRS and local UKGAAP requirements.

Our typical hybrid roles at Fortescue Zero require 3 days in the office and 2 from home, making the ability to commute to the stated office location for the required days essential.

About The Role
Take ownership of and manage the month end, year end and transactional accounting processes, as well as providing technical accounting support. This role will be the go-to person for technical accounting matters, preparing memos and updating accounting treatments where necessary, to comply with both Group IFRS and local UKGAAP requirements.
What you will do
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of qualified, part qualified and in-training Finance employees.
- Support and own key elements of the month end and year end activities, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of Fortescue ZERO’s balance sheet and P&L.
- Manage, update and document existing and new technical accounting policies and treatments for the Fortescue ZERO entities, providing problem solving support where required to the business.
- Maintain a strong relationship with Group Finance to ensure adherence to Group policy.
- VAT return preparation, review and compliance.
- Support Corporation Tax and R&D tax credit claim preparation and compliance
- Payroll support where required, covering for other members of the team to either prepare or review the monthly reports and submissions.
- Support problem solving and decision making of transactional finance processes.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement and transformation of Fortescue ZERO’s processes and systems, identifying areas of improvement and working with the business to find solutions.
- Support the Financial Controller and the wider Finance team in other accounting and finance matters, actively contributing to problem solving and improving processes and approaches.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 3 years PQE.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience (UKGAAP essential and IFRS strongly preferred)
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, ideally with a mixture of time in both practice and industry.
- Previous managerial experience in a Finance function strongly preferred.
- Experience of preparing and reviewing UK statutory financial statements.
- Experience of managing annual audit relationships desirable (or experience of statutory audit in practice).
- Experience in communication at all levels including Senior Management, with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with ERP systems essential (Microsoft Dynamics and/or SAP preferred).
- Strong Excel and general systems experience desirable (given this role will be supporting a systems accountant).
- Long term project accounting and manufacturing accounting experience desirable
