The successful applicant will join our expanding organisation as the Senior Environment Health and Safety Adviser (EHS), working from our newly refurbished offices at Aztec West in Bristol, or alternatively our offices in Blackburn. 

  • Undertake day-to-day Health & Safety activities in AEIL and associated partners.
  • Promote a strong HSEQ culture across the business.
  • Support Responsible Health & Safety Officers with their activities and respond to queries.
  • Maintain relevant HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Delivery regular comms around areas relevant to our activities.
  • Carry out regular internal auditing against ISO9/14/45001.
  • Support with external audits of the IMS.
  • Support all business units with resolving any non-conformances relating to ISO9/14/45001.
  • Design and deliver continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments for all areas of the business activities.
  • Manage EHS risk register and legal register.
  • Work with the Bid team to provide responses related to EHS.
  • Create and maintain a catalogue of relevant safety shares.
  • Monitor and respond to incidents and accidents through our internal reporting system.
  • Monitor and respond to DSE assessments.
  • Produce monthly H&S reports related to accidents/near misses/incidents/observations.
  • Ensuring legal compliance across all office sites with regards to national legislation.
  • Assist in the completion of accredited body memberships such as Construction Line.
  • Advise the HSEQ leadership team of upcoming changes or consultations on legislation which might affect the business.
  • Support the business with the Switch to Impact strategy.


The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences: 

  • ISO45001 lead auditor qualified.
  • CertIOSH working towards chartered membership.
  • High level of understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the nuclear, transport infrastructure, rail, construction or energy services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK
  • French speaking would be desirable, but not essential


Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK BPSS security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum BPSS level.
