About the team

This is a newly created position within our Statutory Accounting Team here at Worldpay, we are building out a new multinational team to manage the statutory Audit process. We are seeking an experienced Senior Director - Statutory Controller to join our dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute to the success of our organization.

What you will be doing

The ideal candidate will have significant experience working within a multinational company, with a strong background in preparing statutory financial statements and reports for multiple regulated and non-regulated legal entities.

As the Statutory Controller, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team to prepare and review statutory financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations for regulated and non-regulated legal entities within the multinational company.
  • Coordinate and manage the statutory audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely completion and resolution of audit issues.
  • Build a new Statutory Accounting Team as we transition off a Transition Service Agreement.
  • Attend country specific Board of Director meetings to report status of Statutory Reporting applicable to the respective entities.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, tax, legal, and regulatory affairs, to ensure alignment on financial reporting matters and support business initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulations and assess the potential impact on financial reporting processes and controls.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard the integrity of financial reporting and mitigate risks.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and other relevant parties, to address inquiries and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required by senior management, providing financial expertise and insights to drive decision-making.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, with a focus on statutory accounting and regulatory compliance within a multinational company.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including IFRS or US GAAP, and experience applying them to complex transactions.
  • Proven experience managing statutory audits and engaging with external auditors to resolve audit issues.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
