We are looking for a strategic and responsible individual to join us as a Heritage F1 Senior Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of Heritage F1 components and assemblies. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and car build departments to assess and support heritage car design and engineering requirements, recommission, build, and operation.

Since its foundation in 1977 by the eminent, late Sir Frank Williams and engineering pioneer Sir Patrick Head, the team has won nine Constructors’ Championships, in association with Cosworth, Honda and Renault. Its roll call of drivers is legendary, with its seven Drivers’ Championship trophies being lifted by true icons of the sport: Alan Jones, Keke Rosberg, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. The team has made history before and is out to make it again with a long-term mission to evolve and return to the front of the grid.

We are looking for a strategic and responsible individual to join us as a Heritage F1 Senior Design Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of Heritage F1 components and assemblies. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer and car build departments to assess and support heritage car design and engineering requirements, recommission, build, and operation.
Main Duties
- Create schemes, detail designs, drawings for manufacture, assembly and installation.
- Ensure designs are aligned with relevant period of heritage car, to maintain authenticity.
- Work effectively to deadlines and complete task set by Heritage Operations team and Heritage Chief Engineer.
- Answer build and manufacturing queries, deal with quality issues and support assembly and car build with appropriate documentation.
- Report faults to Chief Engineer and identify resolutions.
- Assist with developing heritage engineering database from archive information and car preparation and operation documentation.
- Maintain open and clear lines of communication with entire heritage department, as well as liaise with suppliers and customers as required.
- Advise and support heritage placement student.
- Proactively assist with preparation, build and servicing of F1 cars, subcomponents and pit equipment (Williams and client owned) to Williams standards, prior to, during and post events.
- Ensure the car, equipment, garage/event space and heritage workshop are maintained and presented to an elite standard. Williams Heritage operates a showcase facility visited by potential clients, sponsors and VIP’s.

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace or a related field.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD and TCE.
- Creativity to engineer and design solutions, coupled with an exceptional attention to detail.
- Determine design, build and test requirements from heritage archive data and create relevant documentation.
- Perform basic hand calculations for component strength and function.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and graphically to help communicate throughout the design and build process.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across different departments in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of all mechanical systems and assemblies across an F1 car, including, suspension, steering, brakes, engine installation, fuel, cooling, transmission preferred.
- Knowledge of composite structure design and engineering.
- In depth understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles
