MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As Senior Copywriter, you’ll join our talented Communications Team generating and inspiring support for KSS through engaging our internal and external audiences with brilliant storytelling – helping to increase awareness and raise vital funds for our lifesaving work.


You’ll share in our vision of an end to preventable loss of life from medical emergencies and be able to write highly engaging copy for a wide variety of communications, audiences and channels. This will include our internal weekly e-newsletter, monthly supporter e-newsletter, bi-annual supporter magazine, Annual and Impact Reports and staff intranet, as well as supporting the development of key messaging for appeals and campaigns, plus much more.


The role is varied and fast-paced and requires both exceptional organisational and copywriting skills to ensure all daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annual and annual deadlines are met, while also scheduling and completing production of ongoing and ad-hoc projects.


You’ll have an exceptional grasp of our brand, tone of voice, key messaging, exemplary grammar skills, meticulous attention to detail, highly tuned proofreading skills and all the versatility of a senior copywriter.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate creative and impactful written content targeting a range of audiences, across a range of channels, to raise awareness and engagement with our cause. This includes our internal weekly e-newsletter, monthly supporter e-newsletter, bi-annual supporter magazine, yearly Annual and Impact Reports and staff intranet.
  • Help develop powerful messaging for our fundraising and engagement appeals and campaigns. Ensure campaign key messaging works across varied channels and audiences, to deliver greater impact to new and existing supporters
  • Write and edit copy for new and existing initiatives such as fundraising packs, leaflets and guides with inspiring features on our lifesaving work, and our crew and former patients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with the MarComms Team and wider stakeholders to identify compelling creative ideas that resonate with target audiences and can be translated into multi-channel creative copy and content
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the charity to deepen understanding of our lifesaving work and the audiences we are targeting to ensure copy connects and resonates deeply with our audiences for maximum impact
  • Write scripts for the Senior Leadership Team and our crew members for speeches and presentations at major stakeholder events
  • Ensure all copywriting is consistent with our tone of voice and key messaging
  • Have outstanding organisational skills to be able to meet daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annual and annual publishing deadlines, while being able to manage and schedule ad hoc work to deliver to challenging deadlines throughout the year
  • Take full responsibility and accountability for outstanding copy, including exemplary grammar and proof-reading skills, ensuring that everything we publish upholds our aspiration for excellence in all we do
  • Tailor communications effectively for various audience groups including Trustees, Senior Leadership Team, staff, volunteers, former patients and their families, individual supporters, major donors, Trusts and Foundations, partners and peers.
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the role and, where necessary, assist with other areas of work as required


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attendance at some of our fundraising events, which may include weekend work, will be expected from time to time. Time off in lieu will be provided for additional hours worked


OTHER GENERAL DUTIES:

1.When working at our office:

•Welcome visitors and assist them in the appropriate manner

•Observe and adhere to office procedures

•Respect confidentiality of all information obtained whilst working for KSS


2.Contribute to the functioning and morale of the team, whilst conducting yourself in a professional and efficient manner


3.Be a KSS representative across various forums and networking opportunities

Other duties as may be required from time to time on behalf of the charity.
