Role purpose
We are seeking a strategic and conceptual thinker with a passion for words, storytelling and brand voice. The Senior Copywriter works in partnership with our Global Copy Lead and Copy Editor to deliver outstanding copy for campaigns across all Aesop touchpoints, including but not limited to retail, digital, CRM, social and product.
The Senior Copywriter will lead on key marketing campaigns throughout the year, developing concepts that resonate with our customers around the world, whether they are browsing in-store or perusing products in the digital realm. The Senior Copywriter works in collaboration with the Art Direction team and Visual Merchandising team to create copy that works in harmony with our visual approach and balances creativity with commerciality—while retaining Aesop’s spirit and points of difference.
As well as campaigns, the Senior Copywriter will support in the delivery of copy for product launches, regional partnerships, PR, e-commerce, social, brand and product content and internal and brand communications, ensuring our voice remains consistent, authentic, and accurate. The Senior Copywriter will also help to nurture and guide more junior team members as required.
The Senior Copywriter will work closely with our project management team to ensure projects are adequately resourced and delivered in a timely manner.
This role is for an ambassador of the Aesop values, both within the company and externally, and should display a high level of professionalism and camaraderie with fellow Aesop employees. A collaborative, flexible and solution-focussed approach is key.
Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to –
Work alongside the Copy Lead, Copy Editor, Art Direction team and Creative Director to drive exceptional conceptual thinking and execution for campaigns, content and other projects in line with the brand voice and guidelines.
Develop impeccable product and editorial content, ensuring it meets KPI’s (drives difference, traffic or conversion), demonstrating a high level of skill for scriptwriting and storyboarding to communicate ideas and drive successful outcomes.
Ensure all work is grammatically correct, in line with the Aesop Tone of Voice, proofread and error free.
Contribute to UX, SEO and digital best practices.
Ensure all work is filed and easily accessible as archives when required, whilst continuing to develop templates and guidelines and specification documents – drive efficiencies and assist with decentralization to the regions.
Mentor and inspire junior copywriters as well as the broader creative team, inspiring a considered and poetic expression in accordance with our Brand Guidelines.
This is a full-time position, operating with a hybrid working pattern.
What we are looking for

A bachelor’s degree (and preferably postgraduate studies or qualifications) with a major in one or more of the following fields: liberal arts, literary studies, creative writing, journalism, cultural studies, media studies, copywriting, graphic design, or equivalent experience.
A strong conceptual thinker with demonstrable experience driving and delivering campaign copy, preferably in the retail space.
Sound knowledge of marketing strategy, communications, and experience of working with designers.
The ability to tailor communications to meet the needs of various audiences, across print and digital platforms, without compromising Aesop’s voice or spirit.
Concept, design and implementation including, but not limited to; responsive experiences, e-commerce, email, CRM, social and digital instore experiences
Good understanding of UX and UI design and SEO.
Conceptual, innovative, adventurous – while having an acute eye for detail and desire for quality
Team player, problem solver and collaborator. Someone who brings a positive attitude to their interactions with the Creative department and their interactions with our colleagues in marketing, product development, retail, and technology
