Role Overview:
We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Senior Care Assistant (Relief/Bank) to provide high-quality care on a contractual basis at The Homestead, Carterton. This role involves delivering person-centred support to residents in a residential aged care setting, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety. Senior Care Assistants play a critical role in maintaining daily care standards and contributing to the wellbeing of residents in a community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide personal care assistance to residents, including bathing, dressing, and toileting, in line with care plans.
• Support residents with mobility and rehabilitation needs, including safe transfers and mobility exercises.
• Administer medication under the direction of registered nurses, following clinical protocols and documentation requirements.
• Assist with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met for each resident.
• Monitor and document changes in residents’ health status, reporting observations to the care team promptly.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) or equivalent qualification in aged care or disability support.
• Minimum of two years’ recent experience working as a Care Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
• Current New Zealand Certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification.
• Current New Zealand Practising Certificate for Health Care Assistants (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with elderly residents and their families.
