The Elizabeth Williams Clinic is seeking a skilled and motivated Secondary CAMHS Team Lead to provide clinical and operational leadership to a dynamic, supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team based in Llanelli. The team delivers specialist secondary mental health care to children and young people across the Llanelli postcode area, working closely with families and partner agencies.
The post holder will lead the team in delivering high‑quality, safe and effective care to children and young people with complex mental health needs and associated risk, ensuring robust clinical governance, safeguarding practice and staff supervision. The role includes oversight of complex caseloads, coordination of assessments and interventions, and leadership of partnership working across the local system.
We particularly welcome applications from clinicians with significant experience in secondary CAMHS, including working with children and young people presenting with complexity, high levels of mental health risk, and transition needs. The Team Lead plays a key role in maintaining strong collaborative relationships with youth justice services, early help teams and secondary schools, as well as wider health and social care partners.
The ability to sp eak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide clinical and operational leadership to the secondary CAMHS multidisciplinary team, promoting safe, compassionate and evidence‑based practice. They will oversee the team caseload, allocating assessments and interventions to ensure timely, appropriate care with due regard to complexity and risk.
The role includes providing supervision, professional support and performance management to junior and unqualified staff, while leading on safeguarding practice and ensuring statutory and local requirements are met.
The post holder will oversee care planning and risk management for children and young people at increased risk of harm or admission, and coordinate transitions, including the transfer of complex cases to adult mental health services.
They will maintain high standards of clinical recording, audit and quality assurance, contribute to reporting and governance processes, represent the team within the wider system through multi‑agency working, and support service development and improvement aligned with Health Board and Welsh Government priorities.
