Seasonal Gardens Assistant - #64796

Cheltenham College seeks to appoint a seasonal Gardener for a fixed contract over the Summer period. The role is expected to commence in June and is likely to be two or three months in duration, with the possibility of extension depending on availability after the Summer holidays.

Providing an extra layer of support during the department's busiest period, the successful individual will join our dedicated and professional gardening team who look after the College gardens and grounds.

The role will involve hands-on tasks, manual handling and mowing the extensive College grounds with a pedestrian rotary mower, so applicants must be willing to work outdoors in all winds and weathers. A positive attitude is essential as is a willingness to learn. An interest in horticulture would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will play an active role in getting the College ready for major events and to ensure this is achieved, some weekend and evening work will be required from time to time to take care of watering etc.

A full, clean driving licence is desired and applicants would ideally be competent and confident in using machinery such as strimmers, hedge cutters, pedestrian mowers etc. Training will be given, especially if someone is looking for an opportunity to learn and gain initial career experience in this field.
