School Nurse (Bank cover) - #190850

Join us as our School Nurse on a cover basis and be responsible for the delivery of proactive and reactive medical care to our students.

This is a rewarding position for someone wishing to support a collaborative pastoral team as the School moves towards co-education. The successful candidate will be a Registered General Nurse, confident working autonomously and making clinical decisions within their competency.

Responsibilities will include:

• Provision of first aid and general medical cover for students and first aid cover for staff.
• Contributing to health education programmes for students.
• Maintaining students’ medical records and liaising with parents over medical problems.
• Ordering and accounting for medical supplies in the absence of the School Nurse.
• Accompanying students to hospital as required and liaising with parents to allow handover of care.
• Ensuring that the Deputy Heads and staff are informed of medical problems where these may affect a student’s performance, happiness or wellbeing at school.
• Liaising with the School Counsellors or Pastoral Team where appropriate.
• Responsible for the co-ordination of childhood immunisation programmes.
• Advise and participate in elements of the PHSME curriculum, if required.

Anticipated cover for this role will involve 5 - 10 full days per year, paid at a rate of £24.30/hr plus holiday pay.
