Contract type: Full time

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Relationship Manager, SME Business Banking.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our SME Business Banking segment where you’ll engage with our existing and prospective customers to help them realise their ambitions. Your key goal will be to operate as a person of influence to our customers and ensure you deliver world-class customer service.

This role is primarily delivered via Zoom, with customer meetings typically held virtually. There will also be opportunities to meet customers face-to-face at selected events. The role is based from either the Reading or St Albans office, with an expectation to attend the office a minimum of three days per week (hybrid working).

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Manage an existing portfolio of clients, focussing on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network
  • Serve as an ambassador for HSBC by developing the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community
  • Support customers - placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, and setting world-class standards
  • Identify new business opportunities and nurture existing relationships
  • Build relationships with local professionals and business owners who can introduce new clients and opportunities
  • Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk
  • Collaborate with product partners to assess needs of international and domestic customers and offer appropriate solutions

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience of working in Business/Corporate Banking or Financial Services
  • Relationship management or client management experience with a passion for delivering outstanding customer service
  • Business development skills with a track record of account expansion and winning new business
  • Commercial lending skills and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and share information in a clear, concise and accurate way
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management

Opening up a world of opportunity.

Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age. We are committed to removing barriers and ensuring careers at HSBC are inclusive and accessible for everyone to be at their best. We take pride in being a Disability Confident Leader and will offer an interview to people with disabilities, long term conditions or neurodivergent candidates who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
