An exiting opportunity has arisen to join the nursing team to work in Aberystwyth Eye Centre, Aberystwyth, as a Staff Nurse Band 5.
The unit supports ophthalmic outpatients clinics, intravitreal service, and nurse led pre assessment clinics.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based nursing care to meet the needs of the patient and families within the ophthalmic department.
The post holder will undertake training and achieve clinical device competencies for the ophthalmic equipment in the department.
This is a part time vacancy. The department is open Monday- Friday.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will: -
Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based nursing care to meet the needs of the patient and families within the ophthalmic department.
Undertake training and achieve clinical device competencies for the ophthalmic equipment in the department.
Be expected to work in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and undertake duties without direct supervision.
Maintain high standards of patient care using evidence based practice within an ophthalmic setting.
Undertake specific ophthalmology investigations once competency achieved.
Assist in the clean room during Intravitreal sessions.
Carry out phone and preoperative assessments for patients listed for ophthalmic surgery.
Provide nursing support for emergency and general ophthalmology clinics.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, English and / or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
