This post is Fixed term/Secondment until 30/09/2026 to meet the needs of the service.

Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the corporate and clinical governance framework and associated reporting infrastructure across the Division. This includes liaison with the Health Care Standards Commission, Patient Safety Agency and BCU Corporate Governance leads on governance related issues.

Liaise in conjunction with the Director with external and internal stakeholders to deliver organisational corporate and clinical governance standards and objectives.

To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the clinical governance and corporate governance functions. To provide support day to day and major quality, safety and risk associated initiatives across the Division. Be responsible for the performance monitoring of such day-to-day activities, projects and initiatives across the organisation.

Interpret national guidelines producing local policies, advice and guidance and to provide professional advice and leadership on clinical governance and its role as a key part of corporate/integrated governance agenda.

To assist the Director in the delivery of all governance related objectives and deputise in the role of Director on governance issues as and when required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Governance

  • To maintain a high profile for patient involvement in the delivery of all aspects of clinical governance.
  • To work in partnership with key stakeholders both internally and externally to support the delivery of continuous improvement in the quality of the patient experience and to ensure services are integrated and of high standards.
  • To regularly report to the Clinical Governance Committee to produce the annual Clinical Governance Report and Development Plan.
  • To undertake clinical governance reviews and to agree action plans for the rectification or development of clinical governance activities.
  • Communicates with external agencies and staff to ensure compliance with performance targets and strategic objectives providing highly complex and sensitive information where there is a requirement for negotiation and diplomacy and presentations to staff groups
  • To manage and deliver the clinical audit and effectiveness programme, providing support and expert advice to managers and clinicians.
  • To chair and lead appropriate subgroups of the Clinical Governance Committee.
  • Maintain awareness of national and international trends and evidence and link it to local clinical governance development. o
  • To manage staff and income and expenditure budgets, ensuring the activity is managed in line with service agreements.

  • An excellent understanding of Government policy and strategy as it relates to the NHS and interpret how they impact on the service delivery

  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the working day across North Wales as the post requires
