Working Hours: Monday – Friday: 2pm – 10:30pm

Salary: £30,000

Job Purpose

To lead and support quality assurance activities by effectively supervising the QA team and ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and legal standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product integrity and ensuring that all quality systems are upheld across the production environment.

Key Duties

  • Support and assist with unannounced BRC preparation.
  • Implementation and maintenance of customer COP
  • Unannounced Audit preparation
  • Audit performance (Standard, Customer, Legal Requirements)
  • Customer Complaints Reduction
  • Maintain Quality Management System
  • Carry out Internal Audits
  • Metal Detection higher level knowledge
  • Provide Quality/ Food Safety Training to Production teams.
  • Management of pest control site visits and non-conformance closeouts.
  • Validation work
  • Aiding in the retaining of the ‘AA+’ grade from the British Retail Consortium.
  • Working with production to ensure paperwork is correct and traceability is maintained.
  • Supporting all customer visits from the technical side of the business
  • Continually train and develop the production team and the QA operatives working in the factory on anything technically related.
  • Continually monitor shelf-life samples, to ensure the protection of the business and the end customer.
  • Micro analysis trending and performance
  • Generate KPIs in agreed timescale.
  • Be the product Quality ‘Champion’ covering everything from Specs to Quality to Aesthetics of the product.
  • Drive factory hygiene and quality standards
  • Manage Environmental Swabbing Plan
  • Manage paperwork compliance checks.
  • Manage Taste Panel Results
  • Manage GMP, Glass & Plastic Audits
  • Manage relevant non-conformances.
  • Investigate customer complaints.
  • Raise supplier complaints.
  • Train factory staff on any required procedures
  • Create and prepare Procedures, Forms, and product Quality Standards
  • Record and report technical KPIs.
  • Coordinate product trials
  • Be able to carry out intake checks of products delivered to the site.
  • Follow all running sequences (Allergen)
  • Control Material Usage Variance (Life)
  • Adhere to CCP’s
  • Ensure all Operatives are aware and accountable for their Role in the Quality System (Review Process to be defined)
  • Maintain food safety through coaching of staff at all levels.
  • Be part of a team which is focused towards 100% adherence to plan – QA and Production
  • Keeping abreast of all new Technical Information pertaining to the factory and all associated with it
  • Full responsibility for factory cleanliness and swabbing results
  • Develop a training plan/procedure for each department (High Care, Low Care) pertinent to each department
  • Control and monitor all aspects of High Care hygiene & GMP ensuring product safety.
  • Product Quality – Ensuring compliance against customer specifications and attributes.
  • All reporting to be Action Driven (Weekly Reviews) where required.
  • Develop robust interface/communication lines between, Supervisors & Quality Team
  • Adherence to plan reporting/compliance to go via Business KPIs
  • Deliver a Coaching & Education forum focused on total business plan delivery at the operator level.
  • To facilitate the implementation of an effective system of working practices, ensuring the optimum delivery to the QA plan is accepted by Supervisors.
  • Develop further the Factory Standards – Fabric/Flow/Control.
  • Daily production date check

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene
  • Level 3 HACCP

Experience

  • Experience of working in a food manufacturing environment

Key Skills And Knowledge

  • Microbiology
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, i.e., paperwork
  • Must be able to communicate effectively across departments and work well with others.
  • Good English (written, verbal) and good basic numeracy.
  • Ability to work in an organized, methodical manner.
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to understand & apply the requirements stated by line manager of; current applicable food legislation, BRC Global Standard, and customer codes of practice.
  • Good analytical abilities
  • Able to coach on procedures and process when non-conformance is identified.
