Our AtkinsRéalis Complex Project Business provides whole life cycle solutions in project management, project controls, quality and technical assurance and asset management, and delivers some of our largest projects. Project Delivery is integral to winning and delivering our portfolio of projects and this includes functional leadership and the application of the standards for how we govern our projects. With this in mind, we are looking to recruit a Project Manager for an opening we have in our Rail Systems in which may include projects across the UK on Systems led, multi-disciplinary rail bids & projects. The successful candidate will work within our key portfolios in the Transportation sector and increasingly collaborative programmes across markets.

Your role

The role will include managing through the whole project life cycle with our experienced teams (in the UK and abroad) within our Complex Projects Business, across AtkinsRéalis and our trusted supply chain partners focusing on increasingly collaborative programmes across our market. The role is flexible on location with the UK and will include projects across the UK.

  • Lead the successful planning, execution and completion of projects using key project management principles, including risk management, budget control, schedule performance and quality whilst always maintaining a focus on safety.
  • Coordinate design, construction and commissioning resources, ensuring AtkinsRealis quality of work is maintained and balanced against the Client's'own requirements.
  • Lead the main delivery schedule - ensuring achievement of key milestones
  • Maintaining and developing excellent Client relationships.
  • Support in work winning including preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Support the development of talent through technical training and mentoring.

About you

  • Demonstrate strong commitment to HSQE and strong leadership in HSQE on own projects and technically qualified or demonstrate good technical background and experience.
  • Experience of managing implementation of systems and multi-disciplinary works including construction and entry into service, with experience of Design & Build and Testing and Commissioning works and demonstrate great ability to control these activities.
  • Experience of managing sub-contracts as a means of delivering key works. A track record of innovation, embracing new ways of working and use of digital tools.
  • Ability to ensure robust programmes are in place, provide evidence of ability to use programmes to report clearly to key stakeholders and delivery against milestones, and plan work with precision with a focus on 'right first time' delivery, optimal access strategy and avoiding rework by high quality of work.
  • Able to communicate clearly, form a high performing team and show examples of this, communicate effectively with key Stakeholders and give confidence to them, and demonstrate great client management skills by building great relationships with Clients to optimise outcomes for Clients and the business.
  • Be able to form trusted relationships, set SMART objectives and measure performance against these, and demonstrate good control of change management and understanding of risks and opportunities associated with change, understand project risks and how these are controlled and link risk to contingency.
  • Knowledge of different contracting types, especially target cost, with experience of resolving commercial disputes and leveraging contracts to grow opportunities.
  • Track record of delivering construction projects to budgets and looking at ways to improve financial performance of contracts.
  • Experience in Rail System delivery is preferred but not required.
  • Strong leadership and managerial qualities, with proven team management and communication skills, and ability to motivate, mentor and develop our people.

Security clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
