As the sixth-largest insurance company in the world, we provide a wide range of services, including health, car, home, and business insurance. We support millions of customers worldwide, helping them navigate life's uncertainties with confidence.

Job Overview

As a Product Owner, you’ll serve as the tactical execution lead for our Member Experience Squad, collaborating closely with a single squad to deliver prioritised backlog items and achieve sprint goals. You’ll facilitate the smooth conduct of agile ceremonies, oversee day-to-day coordination, and work in partnership with the Business Sponsor to execute the product roadmap. Your focus will be on maintaining delivery discipline, managing the product backlog, and driving continuous improvement, while also developing your product management skills through exposure to strategic activities. This role plays a critical part of our move to new ways of working, the first product team to adopt Agile Ways of Working across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring it is well-defined, refined, and ready for delivery.
  • Lead agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives to maintain a steady delivery cadence.
  • Coordinate daily squad activities to ensure alignment with sprint goals and committed deliverables.
  • Support the Business Sponsor in tracking progress against plans and milestones.
  • Gather stakeholder and user feedback to inform and prioritise future backlog items.
  • Monitor product dashboards, usage metrics, and operational trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Recommend enhancements to product features and delivery processes based on observations and feedback.
  • Maintain clear, concise, and up-to-date documentation of product features, stories, and acceptance criteria.

Work Arrangements

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team, and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients, or attending industry events.

We know that some candidates may be discouraged from applying if they don't meet every requirement. If you’re excited by this job and the prospect of working at AXA but you’re not sure you tick every box, we’d still encourage you to apply.

Your Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a product delivery role, preferably within an agile environment, with strong skills in backlog management and facilitating agile ceremonies.
  • Skilled in cross-functional coordination, collaborating effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and end users to clarify requirements and ensure smooth delivery.
  • Familiar with agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe, along with associated tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Proactive in identifying delivery risks, issues, and opportunities for process improvements to support continuous delivery.
  • Ability to gather and incorporate stakeholder and user feedback to inform backlog prioritisation and feature validation.
  • Experience in aligning tactical delivery with strategic priorities, supporting product managers and senior leaders in roadmap execution.
  • Comfortable working with technology and architecture teams to validate feasibility, scalability, and technical standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, risk, compliance, and operational requirements to ensure product delivery meets all necessary standards.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
