We are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our R&D team on a 12 month FTC basis. The successful candidate will support the design, development and delivery of innovative products, primarily Class III medical devices. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working in a cross-functional environment, translating design inputs into practical, high-quality product solutions that meet performance, manufacturability and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a cross-functional product development team to deliver new product designs from concept through to development.
- Translate design inputs into product designs that meet performance, quality, manufacturability and regulatory requirements.
- Support innovation activities, including idea generation and concept evaluation.
- Develop component and device designs, including CAD drawings, material selection and supplier liaison.
- Carry out design-related risk analysis, including Design FMEA.
- Define design verification protocols, analyse results and prepare reports.
- Ensure design activities are fully documented in line with design control requirements.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Clinical Services and Marketing to support knowledge transfer and project delivery.
- Liaise with customers, including surgeons and medical professionals, to understand and develop new product requirements.
- Support project planning and contribute to design reviews, timelines and deliverables.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience in product or component design and development.
- Strong CAD capability, including generation of engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of design control and quality systems, including FMEA.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a regulated environment.
