Pre Construction & Engineering Admin - #191506

JSM Group Services Ltd.

Date: 9 hours ago
City: Potters Bar
Contract type: Full time

THE TEAM

Join the Pre-Construction and Engineering division at JSM Group, supporting the planning and coordination of projects within the utilities and infrastructure sector. You’ll work directly with the Head of Precon, playing a key role in shaping how our department operates as we move into our next phase of growth. This is a team that moves quickly, takes pride in its systems, and is looking for someone who wants to help build something, not just maintain it.

SCOPE OF ROLE

As Precon and Engineering Admin, you will sit at the heart of both our pre-construction and engineering departments, providing coordination and administrative support while taking a leading role in the development of our internal systems and processes. You will work closely with the Head of Precon, project managers, and estimators to keep documentation, data, and communications running smoothly, and you’ll bring the initiative to identify where things could work better and help make that happen. We are specifically looking for someone with a systems mindset: someone who has experience with platforms like Procore, Salesforce, or similar construction management tools, and who is motivated to use that knowledge to help us build a best-in-class precon operation. This is not a traditional admin role. If you’re the kind of person who gets frustrated by clunky processes and would rather fix them, this role is for you.

HOW YOU`LL SUCCEED

Lead the development and continuous improvement of department systems within Procore, helping us build workflows that match the best in the industry.

Work with the Head of Precon to design, test, and embed new processes that support departmental growth.

Maintain accurate project data across platforms, ensuring consistency and reliability at all times.

Prepare and manage pre-construction and engineering documentation, including contracts, drawings, technical submissions, and site records.

Track project timelines and ensure all documentation and submissions meet deadlines.

Coordinate permit and approval processes with local authorities and agencies, maintaining compliance records.

Act as a coordination point between internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, ensuring information flows accurately and on time.

Schedule and support pre-construction and engineering meetings, preparing agendas and distributing minutes with clear actions.

Assist with budget tracking, cost reports, and obtaining quotes from vendors and subcontractors.

Use Monday and Friday remote working days for system housekeeping, updates, and proactive chase-ups.

WHAT IT TAKES

Essential:

Demonstrable experience with construction or project management platforms (e.g. Procore, Salesforce, or equivalent) with the ability to develop and improve these systems, not just use them.

A proactive, forward-thinking mindset with a genuine desire to improve the way things work.

Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Confident managing multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Comfortable building relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders at all levels.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Desirable:

Background in a utilities, infrastructure, or construction pre-construction environment.

Previous experience in system implementation or process improvement.

Familiarity with the gas, water, or civil engineering sectors.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

We truly value your work, time, and skills! In return, we will offer you a competitive salary and some additional benefits to support your professional growth, including:

  • Participation in mentoring and coaching programmes
  • 28 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays)
  • 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Hybrid working pattern
  • Continuous training and development in both technical and business skills
