Fyrnwy Equine Hospital is a well-established 18 vet practice with a Tier 3 equine hospital and ambulatory branch, covering Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales. The practice consists of European boarded specialists in surgery and medicine, as well as 2 equine nurses, 1 student vet nurse and 11 support staff members. As a practice we manage a mix of National Hunt Thoroughbred studs and Sports horse clients as well as some individual breeders.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As Director of Practice and Clinical Services, you will have overall accountability for the performance, strategy, and culture of one or more veterinary practices or hospitals, balancing clinical excellence with strong operational and commercial outcomes.
You’ll lead both clinical and non-clinical teams, set the strategic direction of the practice(s), and ensure the delivery of outstanding patient and client care alongside sustainable business performance. Working closely with regional and group leadership, you’ll drive continuous improvement across clinical standards, people development, financial performance, and ways of working.

Working closely with regional and group leadership, you’ll drive continuous improvement across clinical standards, people development, financial performance, and ways of working.
- Lead the creation and delivery of the annual business plan, driving sustainable growth while engaging the wider team to contribute ideas, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor, analyse, and communicate both practice and individual performance, actively sharing best practice and contributing to the overall success of the wider area.
- Ensure outstanding clinical outcomes by maintaining full compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, while promoting and embedding high clinical standards across all sites.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through regular development discussions, performance management, and ongoing team support.
- Champion an exceptional client experience by driving client engagement, promoting service excellence, and ensuring high standards are delivered consistently in every interaction.
- Build and maintain an engaged, high-performing team culture, ensuring appropriate resourcing, supporting staff development, and maintaining a safe, compliant working environment.
- Take full accountability for the financial performance of the practice, including management of the P&L, delivering against budgets, and meeting all financial management requirements .
- Role is full time 40 hours per week - 5 days over 7
You are a highly experienced veterinary leader with strong clinical credibility and proven operational and strategic leadership capability. You’ll bring:
- Proven leadership experience with accountability for clinical, operational, and commercial performance
- Strong financial and operational understanding, including experience with business planning and P&L management
- The ability to lead, develop, and inspire multidisciplinary teams through change and growth
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
