About The Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Controller within the Northumbrian Water Project Management Office (PMO).

Reporting into the Planning Lead, the Planning Controller will be responsible for ensuring project plans are developed, managed in accordance with best practice and tracked on behalf of programme and project managers to meet overall requirements of the business.

You will develop, maintain, and monitor project plans within a portfolio of works, ensuring accurate forecasting of milestones and performance. You will support Project Managers by providing guidance on project planning, forecasting, and best practice scheduling principles.

You will ensure contractor schedules are integrated into project plans with adequate risk provisions, and review supply chain schedules for quality and maturity and periodically update schedules, analyse variances against baselines, and propose corrective actions to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities. You will advise Project Managers on contractual obligations related to schedules and ensure planning processes align with audit requirements.

About You:

If you have experience in a portfolio, programme, or project environment, then we want to hear from you.

You will have a Degree-level qualification or substantial experience in business management, information management, or project/programme disciplines.

You will have a good understanding of cost and risk integration within project schedules, as well as knowledge of contract terms and their impact on project schedules.

You will have experience with Primavera P6, MSP or equivalent planning tools for resource allocation, as well as proficiency in MS Office and Power BI for project delivery.

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to convey progress effectively, raise issues early and lead professionals in embedding best practices. You will be adaptable, capable of working in a complex, fast-paced environment, and able to respond effectively to challenges.
