Pharmacy Distribution Assistant Pay
Band 2 £24,169.00 pro rata (based on 37.5hrs) Location
Based in the warehouse on the Unipart site in Cowley, with rotation across all Oxford Trust sites. Responsibilities
Carry out pharmacy ward top‑up services. Pick and pack appropriate goods for delivery to wards and departments. Check and put away pharmacy deliveries. Process returns and waste medicines in line with departmental policy. Complete relevant units of BTEC in Pharmaceutical services within the designated time frame. Familiarise with the operation of the pharmacy computer system. Carry out ward/department top‑ups on any of the sites serviced by the Purchasing and Distribution Unit. Check expiry dates on wards and ensure drug cupboards are kept to an acceptable standard. Assemble ward and dispensary picking lists. Answer telephones and deal with queries. Print stock to‑follow lists for wards & dispensaries. Check for short‑dated and expired stock within the distribution or store area. Print ward stock lists as required. Assist the Senior Distribution Assistant in maintaining a tidy, safe and efficient working environment. Process the return of goods from wards and departments, including entering data into the pharmacy computer system and checking return lists. Dispose of pharmacy waste in accordance with guidelines. Engage in improving the distribution service in conjunction with senior staff. Become accredited to check boxes assembled by other staff. Work towards and attain a BTEC Level 2 in Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Support Staff. Receive training in the relevant element of Good Distribution Practice (GDP). Unpack goods delivered and check against original orders and delivery notes. Confirm parcels are for the correct delivery address and that stock is in suitable condition. Ensure goods received match goods ordered and are accurate against purchase order. Restock shelves with deliveries from suppliers, ensuring stock rotation and appropriate storage conditions. Record goods entered into the pharmacy system. Person Specification
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good telephone manner. Reliable and conscientious. Good literacy and numeric skills. Flexible approach to work and willingness to learn and take on new tasks. Basic computer skills. GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English. NVQ2 in Pharmaceutical Science. Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical field. Previous experience in a receipt and distribution environment. Probation
Subject to a 6‑month probationary period.
