Job Overview
If you would like to be involved in the process of manufacturing life saving cancer treatments for adults and children, then this is the job for you!
We are looking for one committed and motivated person to join our small aseptics team at Wexham Park Hospital.
You must possess good communication skills and be able to work to tight deadlines in this busy and challenging environment. Computer literacy and attention to detail is also important.
Previous experience of working in pharmacy aseptics would be an advantage.
There will be an opportunity to work in a brand new, state of the art aseptic unit currently in design phase.

Main duties of the job
- To prepare worksheets and produce labels using the pharmacy computer system.
- To dispense products using the pharmacy computer system.
- To oversee and carry out ‘environmental monitoring’ within the chemotherapy unit, including monitoring temperatures and pressures.
- To undertake in-house validation to sanitise raw materials and equipment for use in clean room areas.
- To carry out cleaning of clean room, support areas and equipment following defined standard operating procedures on a daily, weekly, three monthly and annual basis along with other general housekeeping duties required in the chemotherapy unit.
- To take part in stock counting and expiry date checking of all raw material and outsourced goods.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To carry out an accreditation to generate worksheets and labels using the pharmacy computer system.
- To oversee and carry out ‘environmental monitoring’ within the chemotherapy unit, including monitoring temperatures and pressures.
- To undertake and pass validations in order to become accredited to sanitise raw materials and equipment for use in clean room areas.
- To carry out cleaning of clean room, support areas and equipment following defined standard operating procedures on a daily, weekly, three monthly and annual basis along with other general housekeeping duties required in the aseptic unit.
- To undergo an accreditation to assemble raw materials and equipment necessary for production of cytotoxic products.
- To take part in stock counting and expiry date checks of raw materials and outsourced goods. in the aseptic unit. To ensure efficient stock rotation to minimise waste.
- To collect raw materials and equipment from pharmacy stores when require.
- To accurately input data using the pharmacy computer systems, including booking out and the return of pharmaceutical items.
- To undertake general chemotherapy unit administration, including filing.
- To deliver urgent medication to wards and departments as necessary.
- To contribute ideas and suggestions for service improvement and too take part in and contribute to team meetings.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English grade C and above
- Ability to work towards National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (if not already qualified)

- Experience of pharmacy or working in a hospital
