The Submarine Directorate in Navy Command is responsible for all submarine in service capability and availability, including oversight of the Submarine Flotilla and Clyde Naval Base.
The Clyde Capital Works Programmes comprise new build facilities and refurbishment to support current and future operations on His Majesty's Naval Base Clyde. This includes Government Major Programmes & Projects. This is an exciting time to join the team, the delivery environment is both challenging and rewarding.
As Business Support Officer, you will be at the centre of Clyde Capital Programme supporting its senior leaders and their staff. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires drive, energy, and initiative plus the ability to communicate effectively across various military ranks and civilian grades. You will need to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members and other stakeholders across the Ministry of Defence.
The role would suit an individual with strong communication and organisational skills. The post holder will need to be proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.
The Submarine Directorate is refreshing the operating model. It is likely therefore that the responsibilities of the business management team will evolve.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

- Support delivery of short term, small, scale projects such as the introduction of Op Model work, secure programme requirements for corporate provision of facilities – e.g. desk allocation/ IT/equipment
- Monitor and manage mandatory training ensuring all staff are up to date in accordance with policy.
- Provide secretariat support for in house meetings if required.
- Manage Clyde Capital Programmes Travel and Subsistence Budget
- Support the efficient provision of logistical and administrative arrangements, including travel and accommodation, hospitality, meetings/conferences, and the onboarding/offboarding of personnel.
- Monitor and manage various business management trackers ensuring these are kept up to date.
- Coordinate Clyde Capital Programme rewards, commendations and honours process to recognise and incentivise the workforce's contributions and achievements.
- Help the resource team with paying/obtaining external training requirements
- Draft and disseminate internal business support communications to Navy Command staff.
- Ad-Hoc applications (Eye tests, Professional Subscriptions, Overtime)
- Ad-Hoc reimbursements of expenditure.
- Conduct the Clyde Capital Programmes Business Continuity Plan and conduct routine Business Impact Analysis as directed by NCHQ.
- To hold an EPC for the AOR and a CP&F account to order and pay for required items, following the strict policies that come with these.
