About The Role
Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for delivering high-quality maintenance and engineering services? EQUANS is seeking a Mobile Mechanical Engineer to join our North East team supporting critical Central Government sites. You’ll be a key player in maintaining and enhancing mechanical and electrical building services, ensuring all plant and equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services, including Legionella control and basic plumbing.
- Manage routine PPM tasks via CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo) and swiftly respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Prepare and use Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and ensure compliance with health & safety policies.
- Lead and supervise subcontractors to maintain quality and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, plant logs, and complete relevant paperwork promptly.
- Support out-of-hours callouts as part of a flexible rota.
- Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure operational continuity.
- Uphold EQUANS’ professional image while delivering exceptional client service.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.
- City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
- Strong fault-finding, repair, and maintenance skills across mechanical and electrical plant.
- Excellent communication skills, confident engaging with clients and internal teams.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- IT literate with experience using CAFM systems and report writing.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Flexible attitude with willingness to undertake lone working and out-of-hours duties.
