The Braunstone Sonoco Plant is one of the largest food can-manufacturing Plants in Europe producing cans from 3 high-speed production lines that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join our day based Engineering team working 37.50 hours a week (Monday-Friday). We are looking for individuals with mechanical engineering experience in a demanding high speed production FMGC environment, with good analytical, reporting and communication skills.
Your Mission In Eviosys
To plan and manage line maintenance, improvements and projects to the Company’s planned maintenance structure.
About You
We are looking for the job holder to ensure equipment is maintained to run at 90%+ efficiency, working within annual budgets and has the ability to plan and carry out projects to improve the process as well as reducing engineering costs through reverse engineering. They will also be required to:

About You
We are looking for the job holder to ensure equipment is maintained to run at 90%+ efficiency, working within annual budgets and has the ability to plan and carry out projects to improve the process as well as reducing engineering costs through reverse engineering. They will also be required to:
- produce SOPs for routine jobs to build consistency and training
- liaise with suppliers on better service and cost
- continually improving planned maintenance systems and checks
- liaise with the Company’s Engineering Department on process conformity and projects
- manage the rebuild of unit spare for the area
- liaise with the Shift & Production Manager on daily issues and follow up
- distribute daily/weekly tasks to engineers
- ensure systems can be audited and meet specifications for both the Company and customers – mechanical audit
- manage the shift engineering team, ensuring resources are allocated where needed as well as from a skills point of view
- liaise with the Engineering Manager on the Engineering KPIs
- 24/7 call out on any engineering issues on the lines
- manage contractors on maintenance and projects
- work to strict health and safety laws on permits to work and risk assessments
- annually work to set KPIs issued by the Engineering Manager
- set up weekly engineering meetings for the shift engineering team
- have a time served Apprenticeship
- be a self-starter
- have knowledge of metal forming/metal working
- have knowledge of tooling design
- have knowledge of Autocad
- possesses good communication & organisation skills
- have the ability to manage a mixture between hands on/hands off
- have good machine shop skills
- have the ability of working to high tolerances (0.0001)
- be able to manage across all levels, as well as learn and teach others to share knowledge
