Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. London Weighting is applicable for this role.

Job Introduction

We are currently seeking a Marketing Coordinator to join the BBC News Marketing team as maternity cover on a 12 month contract. The Marketing Coordinator will work both independently or closely with a Marketing Executive or Manager depending on the project.

Audiences are at heart of everything we do at the BBC and ensuring that this remains so is the role of our Chief Customer Officer Group (CCOG) teams.

The News and Current Affairs marketing team is responsible for BBC News and BBC Weather, programmes, channel and products. The role will support the wider team but with main responsibility supporting the BBC News channel which is the UK and international 24-hour news and information channel, broadcast in English in more than 200 countries and territories across the globe.

The BBC News marketing team works closely with News editorial and BBC Studios teams who run the commercial side of the business for global audiences but also provide support for the wider teams across TV, digital and social media.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with the Marketing Executive on the day to day planning and delivery of outstanding marketing assets for the TV channel.
  • Create campaign briefs to deliver against strategic objectives.
  • Work to develop and deliver creative marketing campaigns alongside in-house and external creative partners.
  • Establish great working relationships with the BBC News Media Planning and Presentation/Playout teams to ensure that content is scheduled effectively across the regional distribution streams.
  • Support the marketing team to ensure campaigns are delivered on-time and on-budget.
  • Your working relationships with key editorial stakeholders across BBC News & Current Affairs and commissioning editors at BBC Studios will be key to your success in supporting the wider output on BBC News channel.
  • Develop working relationships with and manage stakeholders across the business throughout the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure all marketing and communications is correctly complied (approved by correct stakeholders and in-line with BBC brand and editorial guidelines).

Are you the right Candidate?

To be successful in this role, some previous marketing experience would be preferable, working across global markets gained within broadcast media or within an organisation with comparable levels of complexity to that of the BBC.

You will have a good understanding of a range of marketing techniques, ideally with background and knowledge of the TV production process.

A proven track record of assisting with creative campaigns for large brands, managing budgets and ensuring resources are used efficiently. You will be confident working with in house creative partners.

This is an exciting, fast moving environment, which requires an organised and proactive Marketing Coordinator. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure is important.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and teams across the BBC as well as external agencies.

You will have a genuine passion for international news and current affairs and a desire for a varied and very fast moving role.
