Manual Machinist

Status: Permanent
Location: Aberdeen, AB24
Rate: Available Upon Request

A leading engineering organisation is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for machining components and customer equipment to precise specifications, ensuring quality, traceability and safety standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing process.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings and route sheet instructions
  • Prepare valves and equipment for welding operations
  • Carry out finish machining activities following welding and heat treatment processes
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure compliance with quality requirements
  • Maintain full traceability of materials and components throughout production
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently to meet production targets
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance and daily operational checks
  • Verify and maintain calibration of measuring equipment before and after use
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop and work area
  • Support additional workshop activities as directed by supervisors and management

Applicants to this role require

  • Apprenticeship in Machining, Fitting, Turning or a related mechanical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience operating conventional and/or CNC machine tools within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Good understanding of machining processes, tolerances and quality requirements
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards

Desirable

  • Experience working with valves, pressure-containing equipment or oil & gas industry products
  • Experience carrying out machining activities before and after welding operations
  • Familiarity with quality documentation and traceability requirements
  • Secondary education including passes in Mathematics, Science or equivalent qualifications
