Management Accountant Based in Hertford £45,000 - £55,000 4 days in the office

What You'll Do
As a Management Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the team team and these will be your responsibilities:
- Prepare month end accounts for designated business units, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, reconciliations, and variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior year figures.
- Assist with the year-end process for the group of companies by liaising with external auditors and ensuring all required documentation is prepared accurately and on time.
- Review purchase and sales ledger activities while also preparing VAT returns for the group to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Handle internal and external queries promptly and courteously, providing clear information to stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.
- Support effective management of stock levels, spares, consumables, and materials by ensuring company processes are followed and process documentation is kept up-to-date.
- Prepare monthly reports by validating reconciliations and presenting findings in a clear manner for management review.
- Provide assistance during annual internal and external audits by gathering necessary information and supporting audit requests as needed.
- Mentor Accounts Assistants by offering guidance on best practices, supporting their development within the finance function.
- Participate in projects aimed at improving efficiency or implementing new initiatives that enhance financial processes across the business.
- Promote company products and services wherever possible by building strong business relationships that support delivery of company targets.
- ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant or Qualified by experience
- Experience in accounting or finance roles with responsibility for producing monthly management accounts along with associated commentary.
- Excellent numerical ability combined with advanced Excel skills for manipulating large datasets efficiently.
- Proven track record of working with auditors during year-end processes including preparation of statutory accounts and related submissions.
- Familiarity with finance platforms such as Sage 200 as well as proficiency in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel.
- Strong communication skills enabling you to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels as well as external stakeholders such as auditors or clients.
- Experience participating in projects focused on improving efficiency or implementing new initiatives within a finance function.
- Understanding of service delivery standards when dealing with clients or customers both internally and externally.
- Ability to follow established processes meticulously while also identifying opportunities for improvement where appropriate.
- A collaborative approach that fosters teamwork within the finance department while supporting less experienced team members through mentoring or guidance.
