Role Overview: As a Locality Service Manager, you will play a critical role in the operational delivery and management of our Out of Hours (OOH) GP Service. Your leadership will ensure that high standards of care are consistently delivered across designated localities, maintaining service continuity and compliance with clinical governance and CQC standards.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management support to frontline teams.
  • Oversee OOH service bases, addressing operational issues proactively.
  • Manage staffing levels and support the recruitment, training, and development of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, fostering collaborative partnerships.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement by identifying gaps and implementing best practices.
  • Monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and conduct quality audits.
  • Ensure services are effectively resourced, responsive, and aligned with organisational values and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain financial oversight to ensure budget compliance while maintaining efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
  • Evidence of continued professional development relevant to healthcare or service management.
  • Driving License with no convictions
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in healthcare management, leadership, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 4 in Leadership and Management).
  • Training in governance or compliance (e.g., audit processes).

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role within healthcare or a similar setting.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day operations, including staff resourcing and service delivery.
  • Familiarity with NHS policies, standards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Evidence of successfully addressing operational challenges and implementing solutions in real-time.
  • Experience in working within a patient-focused environment, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Awareness of CQC regulations and other relevant legislative requirements affecting healthcare services.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and its application within service delivery.
  • Knowledge of NHS performance management frameworks and service standards.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working specifically within Out of Hours or urgent care services.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems such as Adastra or SystmOne.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing service improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of NHS service transformation and improvement frameworks.
  • Awareness of financial management and budgeting within healthcare services.
