The Role


  • The post-holder will contribute to the delivery and assessment of practical engineering qualifications, particularly focusing on workshop-based learning. This role is essential in supporting the increased curriculum hours within the Engineering department.
  • The successful candidate will support learners in achieving academic success and developing industry-ready skills, particularly through high-quality, practical sessions delivered in the engineering workshop.
  • Teaching on a range of Level 1–3 Engineering programmes.
  • Responsibility for delivering workshop-based sessions and supporting hands-on learning.
  • The post may require course management responsibility.


Main Duties for this role include


  • To plan teaching, learning and assessment for college programmes across a range of levels using the appropriate college format to ensure effective learning.
  • To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard to achieve high success rates.
  • To assess accurately learners’ work both formatively and summatively against appropriate awarding body criteria to ensure learners achieve their qualifications.
  • To comply with all college quality assurance procedures as prescribed by the Deputy Principal to ensure the achievement of all internal and external audits.
  • To liaise with external agencies, including validating bodies, employers and placement providers.
  • Thoroughly prepare suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a variety and appropriate learning and teaching methods.
  • Have available an up-to-date syllabus and scheme of work (showing methods of delivery and embedded cross-cutting themes) for each course/class taught.
