ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Learning Support Officer, you will play a vital role in enabling learners with additional needs to access education, develop independence, and achieve their full potential. Working closely with teaching staff, you’ll provide tailored support across a range of curriculum areas, helping students build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need for future success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

  • Provide in-class and 1:1 support to learners with SEND, enabling access to the curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning strategies and resources
  • Support learners’ personal development, independence, and positive behaviours for learning
  • Monitor and record student progress, attendance, and engagement
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes and support planning, review, and intervention processes
  • Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND (e.g. ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual learner needs
  • Good organisational skills, with experience maintaining accurate records
  • A proactive, flexible approach with a commitment to inclusion and learner success
