Key Responsibilities Of a Learning Support Assistant

  • Provide individualised support to students with diverse learning needs, adapting your approach to ensure their academic, social, and emotional success
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement tailored strategies that address each student's unique requirements
  • Facilitate small-group activities and deliver one-on-one interventions to help students overcome challenges and achieve their goals
  • Monitor student progress, maintain detailed records, and communicate regularly with parents and carers to ensure a holistic approach to student development
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials, resources, and the general organisation of the classroom environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest teaching methodologies and best practices in the field of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Contribute to the creation of an inclusive, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment for all students

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs, such as those with physical, cognitive, or behavioural challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Proficiency in using technology, including educational software and assistive technologies, to support student learning
  • A genuine passion for education and a commitment to promoting the well-being and academic success of all students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative strategies that address individual student needs
