Job Description

The Junior Project Manager is responsible to the Project Manager in the day-to-day management of the project and in the reporting and governance required for the project.

The role is fixed term until March 2025

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Support the Project Manager in the preparation of the following baseline management products: project brief, benefits management approach, PID, stage/exception plans and work packages.
  • Produce accurate and timely reports and records that are required for the project according to the reporting drum beat
  • Tracking progress of the key products and milestones for the project including the resource forecast
  • Support and manage the project controls, monitoring and reporting including advising the project manager of any deviations from the plan and complying with the change control approach
  • Support and maintain the project procedures such as risk management, issue management, change control and communication
  • Track the review and approval of products for the project and ensure that any risks or issues to major milestones are escalated to the project manager
  • Use the Capita project methodology and tools to track the project and support the project manager
  • Work with the project team to deliver the project to time, quality and cost.

What We’re Looking For

  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes
  • Business case development and approvals skills
  • Understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the programme
  • Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
  • Knowledge of programme and project management methods including MSP, PRINCE2 and Agile
