Job Overview
This post is a Junior Clinical Fellow (F2 level) position within the Accident and Emergency Department. The post holder will play an integral role within the clinical team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and supportive environment. This role offers valuable experience in emergency medicine, with opportunities to develop clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide variety of acute presentations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, gaining exposure to a broad range of clinical scenarios while enhancing their experience in patient management and decision-making. The role involves responsibility for assessing patients attending the Emergency Department, arranging appropriate investigations through Pathology and Radiology, and supporting the delivery of safe and effective care.
Main duties of the job
Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

Main duties of the job
- Admit and assess patients under the care of the Consultants.
- Present and discuss cases at weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Ensure regular patient reviews in collaboration with the specialty doctor.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of individual care and treatment plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients’ relatives and carers, involving them appropriately in care decisions.
- Undertake relevant clinical investigations, arrange appropriate psychiatric treatment where required, and coordinate patient care following multidisciplinary discussions.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to support treatment programmes.
- Provide medical cover for patients across wards and within community settings when required.
- Assess, review, and discharge patients under Consultant supervision, and offer guidance or support to team members where appropriate.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date clinical records.
- Participate in cross-cover arrangements for absent medical colleagues.
- Work flexibly and cooperatively with Consultants, medical colleagues, management, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of patient care.
- Adhere to NICE guidelines and all relevant legislation, policies, and clinical standards.
