The Installation Engineer is responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose installation work packages to support engineering, mobilisation, and offshore operations of flex-lay equipment, while also contributing to feasibility assessments and bid studies to ensure technically sound and competitive solutions aligned with client requirements. This role provides technical installation expertise and collaborates closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the deliver safe, cost- effective, and high-quality solutions across various scopes within the offshore energy industry.

Skills and Knowledge
Leadership
- Supports installation engineering activities within MDL, contributing to the delivery of high- quality engineering solutions that meet project objectives and client expectations.
- Assists in the development, maintenance, and application of standardized tools, templates, and methodologies to ensure consistency across installation engineering tasks.
- Collaborates effectively with internal teams (Engineering, Flex Lay, Rentals, Sales, Assets & Operations) and external stakeholders to support alignment of technical requirements and execution strategies.
Knowledge
- Demonstrable knowledge of engineering, marine and vessel operations including installation methodologies, processes, procedures and techniques.
- Demonstrates strong competency in installation planning, risk identification, and engineering problem-solving across a variety of project contexts.
- Provides authoritative input in technical integrity reviews and supports project teams in making sound engineering decisions under challenging conditions.

Qualifications (Education, Experience and Training)
- Degree Qualified Engineer (preferred Mechanical or Naval)
- Over 2 years of engineering and technical support experience in the marine, oil and gas industries, ideally within a Flexible & Umbilical installation method engineering environment (internships in installation companies can be consider).
- Experience in installation engineering projects, covering both the design and execution phases. Exposure to EPCI, decommissioning, and day rate project environments is considered an advantage.
- Experience in installation engineering analysis, including proficiency in Orcaflex, is considered a plus.
- Knowledge in AutoCAD / Microsoft Project / Office Package (Excel, Power Point, Word) is required.
- Experience in Solidworks / Inventor is desired.
- Fluent/Advanced in English.

Work environment
The primary workplace will be at either the MDL office in Rio de Janeiro or Aberdeen, with occasional visits to client offices, vendor yards, and other MDL locations as required.
