Regulator of Social Housing
The Regulator of Social Housing regulates registered providers of social housing to promote an efficient and well-governed sector that can deliver homes to meet a range of needs, https://careers.regulatorofsocialhousing.org.uk/
Requirements of the role
The Regulator of Social Housing is seeking an Information Governance Officer to join us in a role supporting the work of the Data Protection, Information Access and Complaints team, based within the wider Legal team.
Our work is varied and valued, with opportunities to work with colleagues across the organisation. The role is an essential part of the regulator’s approach to compliance with data protection and information access legislation and in learning from and responding to complaints. We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable person, keen to develop into a role that impacts at every level within the regulator.
About The Role
As the Information Governance Officer, you will assist with responses to information requests made to the regulator under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the DPA 2018, FOIA and EIR, and to requests to re-use information. You will be joining a small, supportive team with opportunities to engage with staff at all levels.
You will log, acknowledge, consider and help to respond to such requests ensuring these are timely, accurate and compliant; will help provide updates on the team’s progress and signpost staff to relevant policies and processes helping to advise regulator staff on compliance with these policies and relevant legislation. You will also be responsible for ensuring the regulator’s publication scheme (a requirement under FOIA legislation) is up to date and in line with ICO requirements and in supporting staff by monitoring the completion of mandatory annual and induction data protection training.
About You
As our successful candidate, you will be self-motivated and approachable with excellent people and communication skills and will be keen to develop your existing skills and experience in information access, to include data protection and complaints work. Data protection is a dynamic and evolving area with opportunities to progress and develop new skills.
You should have experience of responding to or assisting with requests for information and be able to demonstrate your knowledge of, and commitment to this area of work. Complying with legislation means that requests for information must be responded to within strict deadlines, so you should be well organized, a team player, able to prioritise, problem solve, work to deadlines and manage a varied and sometimes heavy workload.
