The Import Assistant for Leica Biosystems is responsible for the processing, monitoring & record keeping of Inbound shipments in accordance with all relevant policies & procedures

This position is part of the Global supply Chain Team located in Newcastle, UK and will be a fully on-site based role at Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

You will be a part of the Import and Export Team and report to the Senior Distribution Manager responsible for

• Preparation of KPI’s relating to Customs House Brokers and analysis of Import analysis for customs house brokers accuracy
• Develop, Monitor & Improve Import processes and daily monitoring and escalation on critical Imports
• Preparation of Import compliance information for Monthly review
• Attend Quarterly business reviews with Custom House Brokers
• Managing of Import documentation to a compliant standard
• Providing Import Clearance instructions to freight forwarder and couriers as required

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Conduct Import Clearance by relaying with external Custom House Brokers – clear all goods into Europe and UK from global suppliers
• Import Performance Monitoring – Analysis of KPI’s for Key Critical Custom House Brokers to ensure timely clearance and management of flow of goods Imports
  
  

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Fluent in both the English and German Language to ensure communication with Customs Teams based in Germany/UK
• Bachelor or Technical Degree in area of Logistics/Supply Chain based field area or similar
  
  

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

• Ability to travel – 5-15% travel may be required, overnight, within territory or locations
  
  

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Multiple years of experience in the field of Importation and Customs
• Knowledge and skillset related to Customs House Brokerage
