Bachy Soletanche

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Ipswich
Contract type: Full time
The Geotechnical Sub Alliance (GSA) is at the forefront of the Sizewell C nuclear power station development - one of the UK’s largest and most exciting infrastructure programmes.

We’re responsible for preparing the foundations of the entire site: designing and constructing cut‑off walls, retaining structures, soil improvements and more. Using advanced geotechnical engineering and world‑class construction technologies, this is a rare opportunity to contribute to a national project that will shape the UK’s clean‑energy future.

The Role

We are recruiting an experienced HR Advisor to join our Ipswich-based HR team. This is a key generalist role on a large, complex joint venture project, where you will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees.

This is a fast-paced, high-demand environment with shifting priorities, so resilience, strong judgement, and the ability to operate under pressure are essential.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Employee Relations & Case Management: Manage a full range of Employee Relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and restructuring, ensuring a consistent and compliant approach.
  • HR Advisory & Manager Support: Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing timely, pragmatic advice and coaching on people management and best practice.
  • Absence Management & Occupational Health: Coordinate Occupational Health referrals, manage absence processes, maintain accurate records and support effective return‑to‑work planning.
  • Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Support end‑to‑end recruitment activity, advising managers, ensuring compliance (including sponsored workers), and contributing to workforce planning initiatives.
  • HR Data, Reporting & Projects: Produce HR metrics and analysis to support decision‑making and client reporting, and contribute to HR projects such as organisational change, salary reviews and employee communications.
  • Wider HR Support: Provide general administrative and operational support to the HR team, contributing to the delivery of a responsive HR service in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience) with strong generalist HR capability
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases independently
  • Confident communicator, able to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Up-to-date employment law knowledge and practical application
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including data handling and reporting
  • Resilient and able to perform in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment with changing demands

Desirable:

  • Experience within construction, joint ventures, or large-scale projects
  • Knowledge of visas, immigration, and workforce compliance
