Health and Safety Assistant

For the following vacancy, we are looking for a confident and committed individual who is passionate about the opportunities this role may bring.

Roles & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

  • Checking and Reporting - Working alongside the Operations Manager for all regular safety checks throughout the buildings
  • Monitoring – Assist the Personnel and Safety Manager with monitoring of site safety, checks and monitoring of the park operation to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Safety Support – Assist the Personnel and Safety Manager with all safety related tasks and projects as a result of any findings from monitoring and reporting.
  • Administration and Training - Assist the Personal and Safety Manager with the administration of all safety documents, training files and record keeping and ensure adequate training is being delivered to all employees.

Responsibilities

CHECKING AND REPORTING

  • To provide health and safety support to all employees and other workers on site as necessary.
  • To assist with reporting health and safety incidents on the company incident reporting tool.
  • Support the Operations Manager in conducting the routine testing of all lifesaving equipment including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, fire exits and signage.
  • Support the Operations Manager and Maintenance team in all regular checks, conducting daily site walks and keeping up to date with all routine checks as scheduled
  • Ensure the schedule of checks is up to date and accessible
  • Assist the Personnel and Safety Manager and Operations Manager in the findings of any anomalies from routine checks
  • To liaise with department managers to ensure that safety issues are reported correctly and addressed quickly with the Personnel and Safety Manager.

MONITORING

  • To assist with the regular monitoring and inventory of all COSHH aspects, ensuring that chemicals are stored safely and all substances are clearly listed.
  • To support individual department Managers with safety related tasks such as signage, display and communications.
  • To actively monitor all routine safety checks and inspections in relation to the park safety, including daily and weekly checks.
  • To assist with the undertaking of inspections, and audits as necessary to ensure the workplace is deemed fit for purpose and to reduce the element of risk to all concerned.
  • To roadmap schedules for the two parks across the year to allow for external periodic inspections to take place.

SAFETY SUPPORT

  • Support and work with the Personnel and Safety Manager to ensure a safe and healthy environment for both our employees and visitors at all times.
  • Assist in the undertaking of risk assessments throughout the park.
  • Assist, when necessary, with incident investigations and provide support to the Personnel and Safety Manager to ensure that investigations have been carried out thoroughly.
  • To play an active part in the park Health and Safety Committee and any other Health and Safety Meetings.
  • Engage with employees to ensure that understanding of safety policies and procedures is apparent and where needed, support in refresher training alongside the Personnel and Safety Manager.
  • Regular communicate with Department Managers and report to the Personnel and Safety Manager of any requirements needed for the week
  • Support the Personnel and Safety Manager with the implementation of strategic projects as and when required.

ADMINISTRATION AND TRAINING

  • Input and manage data entry on company software reporting systems (Quentic, Worldex etc)
  • Ensure that all record keeping is kept up to date with training files and safety documentation as distributed by the Personnel and Safety Manager
  • Update all Frist Aider information as displayed round the building when required.
  • Conduct regular inventories and stock takes of all first aid supplies, ensuring that each department is equipped with the correct stock.
  • Ensure that all PPE is available as implemented by the Personnel and Safety Manager and conduct regular inventories.
  • Assist in liaising with regulatory bodies ensuring that both companies are compliant with mandatory regulations.
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are delivered to employees and that evidence of this is filed and maintained correctly
  • Assist with the practical training of new procedures and safety refreshers across all departments in conjunction with the Operations Manager and the Safety and Personnel Manager.
