Job description

This role is based in the United Kingdom and as such all normal working days must be carried out in the United Kingdom.

Join us as a Head of Strategic Market Communications

  • You’ll lead the development and delivery of NatWest Group’s strategic narrative across key market‑facing communications
  • Acting as a central connector across teams, you’ll secure a consistent and compelling narrative across Investor Relations (IR) and Corporate Affairs external communications
  • You’ll play a key role in shaping how the organisation is understood by the market, delivering communications that influence investor confidence and perception

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll bring together strategy and performance to shape how our story is communicated to the market. You’ll operate at the centre of our external communications, translating complex information into clear, compelling content that resonates with external audiences.

Working closely with the bank’s Leadership team, you’ll craft and refine our investor narrative. As a trusted adviser, you’ll collaborate directly with C-Suite teams on messaging, making sure it is clear, concise and understandable to a broad audience. You’ll influence how NatWest is perceived externally, elevating the brand and strengthening how our performance and strategy are communicated to the market.

You’ll be:

  • Shaping and evolving our strategic narrative, working with Group Strategy and senior leadership to secure clear and consistent messaging
  • Leading the development of strategic content across financial reporting, including quarterly Interim Management Statement and Annual Report and Accounts, while providing editorial oversight across these publications
  • Managing the Investor section of the NatWest Group corporate website, creating and maintaining compelling content that strengthens confidence in our investment case
  • Owning the development of key IR materials, including C-Suite scripts for major events such as results announcements and Capital Markets Days
  • Overseeing consistency of tone and messaging across all materials, working closely with Corporate Affairs teams to align communications across investor and media channels

The skills you'll need

As our Head of Strategic Market Communications, you’ll bring extensive experience in financial copywriting for investor audiences, gained either in-house or though financial journalism. You’ll combine strong technical expertise with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, engaging and market‑ready content.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • A strong background in corporate storytelling, with the ability to shape and refine narratives for senior executives and market-facing audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with and influencing senior stakeholders, including the confidence to challenge and advise at Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer level
  • An understanding of emerging technology and new communication formats, including GEO and evolving digital channels and how to apply this knowledge to help shape forward looking communication
  • A strong grasp of regulatory and policy requirements, so all communications are accurate, compliant, and aligned to industry standards
