Role Overview:

The Head of Projects and Technology will lead a team made up of Project Managers and Technology Managers with a remit across all Football projects and regions. The Projects team is responsible for planning and executing new projects within Football globally. The Technology team is responsible for effective and consistent deployment of technology within football.

The Head of Projects and Technology communicates with a range of stakeholders including Customers and a range of internal Hawk-Eye partners including: Commercial Team, Operations, Hardware Management, Product/Development, TechOps and the PMO.

This role will direct project managers and tech managers across the Football unit, supporting and overseeing their project activities, whilst also maintaining direct responsibility for major/strategically critical projects.

Key activities that the Head of will focus on:

  • New Regions & Customers: Expansion of existing Hawk-Eye technology and service to new geographies and new customers
  • Additional Services: Rollout and integration of additional existing Hawk-Eye technologies and services for existing customers
  • New Tech: Working closely with Hawk-Eye Technology teams (Product, Dev & TechOps), implementing innovative new technology into deployment for the first time
  • Major Events: Scaling up day to day Hawk-Eye Operations for service delivery at major global events

Key Responsibilities:

  • Budget accountability for all team spend, as well a share of P&L responsibility for the delivery of new projects.
  • Accountability for Project success. Unblock issues and escalate where necessary to ensure all areas of the business take accountability for their roles in project delivery.
  • Define and manage a consistent pipeline for the delivery of Hawk-Eye technologies into new leagues/geographies.
  • Ensure the pipeline serves as the source of truth for Project status & ensure Senior Management are informed of any risks throughout the project.
  • Define a clear Project accountability structure (RACI or similar) for all projects.
  • Define and implement suitable tools and forums for tracking progress of current Project activities to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support Commercial and Management teams in the discovery / due diligence phases of RFP / Commercial Proposals to ensure that all proposals are well-considered, well-planned and accurately presented
  • Using awareness of Stock, Kit & Projects across the business to identify solutions of operator, kit and resource sharing.
  • Provide forecast updates of Projects to drive ring-fenced procurement to de-risk component shortages or lead time concerns, collaborating with the Procurement team.
  • Ensure P&L owners and their projects follow company processes & leverage these resources.
  • Key advisor in Football Product Steering meetings to ensure the development roadmap aligns with the Project deadlines within Football
  • Collaborating with PMO, define and execute end-to-end delivery plans for project deliveries, taking the project from discovery through to delivery and closure, handing off to Operations for long-term service delivery.
  • Work closely with PMO delivery managers to ensure the program of projects can receive required software development in time for delivery including adequate testing periods.
  • Support the adoption and successful delivery of additional existing Hawk-Eye technologies and services for existing customers through knowledge sharing, planning and communication
  • To implement relevant changes (hardware, software, infrastructure) to successfully integrate additional technology or improved processes into day-to-day operations
  • Communicate across the business to gain knowledge and insight into best practices which may improve the range and quality of services offered in Football
  • Support the definition of Product Requirements based on an understanding of customer need
  • Support the deployment, testing and integration of new technologies into Operations (existing or newly created operations teams)

Skills/Knowledge Required:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable track record of project delivery
  • Experience of delivering complex, technical services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management (internal and external) and ability to build strong new relationships
  • Present a trusted, engaging and proactive face of Hawk-Eye
  • Impeccable organisation and prioritisation ability
  • Experience in delivering projects in challenging environments and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects, with excellent time management and prioritisation
  • An experienced leader with a strong business focus and understanding

  • Sports industry experience
