Are you looking for a leadership opportunity, working for one of the largest listed companies in the South West?

As Head of Delivery in our Engineering Directorate, you will lead a dynamic team of project managers, engineers and essential service to deliver our planned capital programme. These projects encompass a spectrum from water treatment plants to water reservoirs as well as the intricate water network.

Based in either Bristol or Exeter, this is a full-time, permanent position offering an annual salary between £90,000 - £110,000 plus a company car and excellent benefits.

About the role:

In this strategic role, you will be entrusted with defining the overarching delivery strategy, charting the course for success. Your leadership will extend beyond our internal functions as you foster collaboration across the broader Bristol and South West Water teams and our invaluable supply chain partners. By harnessing the collective expertise and resources at our disposal, you will drive forward our mission of delivering clean water infrastructure with unwavering efficiency and excellence

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and implementing the delivery strategy for the planned capital programme
  • Striving for best-in-class safety, health and wellbeing across the delivery operation and wider business.
  • Promoting customer excellence and enhancing our brand with customers and stakeholders.
  • Delivering the capital programme and outcomes to meet and exceed stakeholder expectations
  • Enhancing the maturity & capability of the capital delivery team and implementing a maturity assessment methodology
  • Developing collaborative relationships with supply chain partners
  • Identifying and implementing best practice in programme, portfolio, and project delivery
  • Providing insight and benchmarking of delivery costs and implementing efficiency opportunities.
  • Advising on the optimum commercial delivery models for the various portfolios of projects in the programme.
  • Providing insight and reporting on capital delivery performance promoting proactive interventions and enabling wider business decisions


What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar profession
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (MICE) or similar relevant professional qualification
  • Programme, Portfolio and Project Delivery
  • Contract administration
  • Commercial and Financial Management
  • Senior Stakeholder Management, negotiation and influencing
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Numerate and ability to analyse complex challenges
  • Tender Processes & Evaluation
