Who are we looking for?

Gamma Labs is the Technology Division of Gamma, responsible for the design, build and running of all the IT, Network & Product solutions that underpin Gamma products and operational processes.

Working as a key part of the technology senior management team, the Head of Engineering, Gamma Integrated Products reports to the Group Products Engineering Director and is responsible for the design and build of all Gamma integrated products.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

  • Responsibility for designing and building all Gamma integrated products based around the CSG platform and other supplier platforms that the Business chooses to integrate with in the future.
  • Leading a development team of :20 people with an overall budget of :£7M with Product Delivery Managers as direct reports.
  • Providing the technical direction for the integrated products in alignment with the vision set by the Chief Architect & Engineer.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all outputs in line with the product roadmaps for integrated products as defined by the Product Design & Delivery team whilst coordinating the high-level plans for the team and driving delivery
  • Working with Product Design & Delivery to champion and drive solution improvements to enhance customer experience
  • Working with the Product Owner Managers (POMs) and Product Delivery Managers, build and maintain product release schedules in line with the 12-month product roadmap whilst also staying close to the product backlog to maintain a view of the long-term vision.
  • Close involvement during the product discovery and requirements phases to ensure that the requirements that are prioritised can be delivered
  • Supporting the Product Delivery Managers for the team and POMs in mapping business requirements into epics and stories and setting the release schedules
  • Ensuring that the Chief Architect and Engineer, DevOps team and Solutions Architects are closely involved with the engineering teams during work scoping, planning and development


What You’ll Need

  • An experience technical leader who has run multiple engineering squads building software products with direct reports including technical squad leaders and senior engineers
  • Experience in agile software delivery with an emphasis on failing fast and changing direction quickly
  • Skilled in work breakdown, translating requirements from product teams into epics and stories using agile techniques such as user story mapping
  • Analytical thinking around product solutions
  • Experience working with product managers and UX designers in defining and refining requirements, user journeys and user interface design
  • Knowledge of and experience in developing from prioritised product backlogs and contributing to the prioritisation process
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence to challenge others in an appropriate way
  • Ability and capacity to manage a demanding workload, handle conflicting priorities and a proven success rate of delivering high quality products, quickly and at scale
  • Experience of working in an agile environment with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in using tools such as Confluence, JIRA, Trello, Lucid and Microsoft 365 suite would be an advantage
