About The Role


CALA Homes (North) Ltd are looking to recruit a Head of Commercial to join their Commercial team. This senior role will lead and represent the Commercial team in the region with the responsibility for accurately projecting and managing costs for all feasibility projects and at all stages of individual projects. This will be a key contributor to the strategic direction of the wider regional business.


Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Play a key strategic role as part of the senior team to develop the strategy for the business going forward, identifying key risks and opportunities, and implementing appropriate actions
  • Lead across, and with our partners out with the business, in a way that is reflective of the Cala values
  • Effectively lead, engage and develop the team
  • Ensure operational adherence to all Cala processes and systems
  • Accurately cost all feasibility projects at land acquisition stage
  • Deliver developments in line with cost budget
  • Maintain accurate and up to date TBRs, creating and managing of budgets
  • Responsible for subcontract, material and plant payments
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager/Director to prepare realistic forecasts/budgets
  • Produce monthly site analysis sheets charting financial history of live sites for management and project team meetings
  • Work in partnership with the Construction Director to develop and implement a strategy for ensuring suitable labour and subcontractors are available for the business needs
  • Drive cost savings, new materials, and construction innovations
  • Ownership of margins i.e. responsible for delivering in line with budget and profit improvement
  • Responsible for the people development strategy within department


About You


You must have experience working in a similar role with another house builder, and must have cost management experience. Experience in leading and developing a team is essential. You should have experience of using Sitestream, Land and Build modules are preferable.
