Description

As our Programmer at BULKHEAD, you will have excellent knowledge with UE4/UE5. You will be working on a AAA project with a large-scale team and will be working closely with other Programmers, Designers and Artist to bring the world alive. You will be responsible for implementing exciting gameplay features, helping to balance what makes them fun, whilst maintaining a close eye on performance considerations.

This is an in-studio role, and this is non-negotiable; however, we can offer bespoke relocation packages.

Responsibilities

  • Implement new game features and modes.
  • Iterate on existing features and mechanics.
  • Solve problems encountered along the way.
  • Write extensible, stable, efficient code.
  • Strive for constant self-improvement.
  • Mentor Junior members of the team and help others learn.
  • Be considerate with planning, documentation, and communication.
  • Take ownership and act as a driving force for your features.

Required Skills And Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years Industry experience.
  • Worked on at least one title using Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Must understand the importance of efficient networking in a multiplayer game.
  • Have strong grasp of C++, software design, programming and debugging.
  • Have a strong grasp of 3D maths for games.
  • A desire to craft multiplayer games.
  • A familiarity of multiplayer game programming.
  • Ability to communicate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • A strong desire to overcome difficult hurdles.
  • A methodical mind and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication and the ability to articulate systems and ideas effectively.

Desired Skills And Experience

  • Experience developing games for console platforms.
  • Experience programming multiplayer games in Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Developed an understanding of a broad range of gameplay systems and architecture.
  • Shipped a commercial multiplayer game.
  • Experience writing game code with tight performance constraints.
  • Experience writing optimized code in Unreal 4/5.
  • An understanding of game design.
